The China Meteorological Administration said typhoon formation and landfalls in waters affecting China this year have been markedly above normal, with overall greater intensity, more long-lived storms and longer onshore residence times leading to larger impacts. China remains in an active autumn typhoon season; the CMA forecasts 1-2 typhoons will affect the country in October.
