Indonesia has told ministries and agencies to cut unspent travel budgets by 30% as rising oil prices and increased project spending tighten year‑end government outlays. The budget deficit widened to 1.24% of GDP through September. Finance Minister Suahasil said Friday the government still expects to meet a full‑year deficit target of about 2.8% of GDP. Energy subsidies and compensation rose more than 50% YoY to IDR 377 trillion (~$21.1bn) through September, driven by higher oil prices, stronger domestic demand for subsidized fuels and LPG, and a switch to monthly payment settlements.
